Eliga Roach, Sr., age 91 of Pell Lake passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at his residence. Eliga was born in Rosedale, Mississippi in 1927 to the late George and Rebecca (Hanes) Roach. He farmed with his family and later became a carpenter. During the Korean War Eliga joined the U.S. Army. He was sent to Germany and became part of the Chemical Corp. He served in the military from May 13, 1952 untill April 24, 1954 where he was honorably discharged. He married Isabella Nettles and had their first child Joanna in 1956. Later his other children were born; David, Elijah Jr., Calvin, James and Angela. Four months later they left Greenville, Mississippi and moved to Chicago, Illinois. He started working at the steel mills, later becoming a postal worker and finally becoming a taxi driver until he retired. After retiring Eliga lived in Chicago for years then moved to Pell Lake, Wisconsin there after to Lake Geneva for several years. After becoming ill, he moved back to Pell Lake with his daughter Joanna until he passed away. Eliga is survived by his wife Isabella Roach-Fuller; Children Joanna Sullivan (Henry) Blair, Elijah (Monica) Roach Jr., Calvin Roach, James (Rita) Roach, David (Keesha) Roach and Angela Fuller. Grandchildren some through blood and love: David (Brooke) Rhone, Gerald Roach, David (Katlin Borchardt) Roach II, Joshua Roach, Jeremiah Fuller, Jada Roach, Jarod Roach, Tarrance Roach, Jaydan Briggs and Michelle Weinstock. Great-Grandchildren: Tori Rhone, Audriana Ellison, Khiara Rhone, Nina Sullivan, Cadell Sullivan, Maliyah Roach, David Rhone II, Quincy Roach, Cameron Roach, Jaylah Knight, Anthony Williams, Hope Childers and Hunter Childers. He is also survived by Nieces Alphredia Patterson, Shirley Williams, Lisa Roach-Lewis, Rebecca Bryson and nephew Chad (Sharon) Jones; his dogs and cats who he loved dearly, close friends Tammy Mehleis, Annie Mehleis, Charlie Mehleis, other relatives, and many friends. Eliga is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: James, Virgil, Earnest and Isaac Roach; and sister Rebecca Roach. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12:30p.m. at the Steinke-Lazarczyk Funeral Home (515 Center Street, Lake Geneva) with a service at 12:30 p.m., Pastor Bob Kamps will be officiating. Interment will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
